Reading Aloud at CWC Events

After reviewing web analytics for the CWC, I noticed the #1 most-clicked question on our member page was: “Is reading aloud required?”

As someone who struggles with anxiety, I understand, and I don’t want it to ever be a reason someone doesn’t join.

Reading aloud will never be required at CWC events.

This club exists to build community through writing and creativity. My dream is that, over time, we’ll all feel comfortable enough to share freely and enjoy the fun that comes with hearing each other’s writing. What matters most is that we create a space where everyone feels comfortable and welcome as writers.

Moving forward, participation in activities will be designed based on writing and silent reading only. When group interactions are involved, guests can expect to swap papers or share in ways that don’t put anyone on the spot. You’ll always have the choice to engage at the level that feels right for you.
