Second Event Recap & Refreshments
Our second Creative Writing Club event took place this past Thursday, and it was a fun night of brain teasers, improv writing, and riddles. Guests were determined to solve the opening puzzle (on our Instagram) and came up with many clever answers before our main activity.
After waiting for all attendees to arrive (because why would we start without you?), we jumped into an improv writing game with absurd prompts, having everyone take on various roles, ranging from loving grandparents to helicopter probation officers.
Of course, we had two raffle winners this time (details here), and with a little twist of the evening, our free writing time turned into a circle of more riddles and brain teasers by request. Most people headed out after the activity to prepare for their Fridays, but our last few guests stuck around until about 9:45 playing games and making new friends.
Snacks are always part of the fun, and this month we had a fall-themed charcuterie, equipped with apples, plums, pumpkin bread, and apple cider donuts. I realized it was pretty odd to offer snacks without drinks, so guests can expect complimentary mini water bottles at every event, not just this one. A tiny detail, but a necessary one in my book (as a person who literally guzzles down water everywhere I go).
We had returning members and new faces join us, and I can’t thank you all enough for coming, especially those of you looking for more social, creative outlets. The CWC is honored to have you.
As for next month’s event… I don’t want to give too much away since I’ll be making a post about it soon (follow our Instagram). But I will mention that it’s going to be a special event, not just for writers, but for all creatives.
It’ll be an October-inspired, hands-on workshop with a take-home item that’s functional, useful, and something you’ll enjoy having, even after the night ends. Hell, it’s something you’ll enjoy even when October ends.
I can’t wait to share more details with you!
